Day 14

We were heading for County Clare!!
Mum had booked a campsite next to the Cliff of Moher so whatever we did today we were ending in Doolin. It was Tom’s day to sit in the car with Granny & Grandad. Weather was very nice and we headed off.

Grandad had organised to meet up with old friends in Galway. By the time we got into Galway City the raining was coming down so bad that we couldn’t even get out of the car. Grandad had suggested taking the boys and me for a swim, we didn’t want to but then mum said about the aquarium.

It was very good. Boys loved it especially when they saw a lobster attacking and eating a fish he was sharing his tank with. They showed us hydro and tidal renewable energy which I had just learnt in geography.

Mum’s cousin had told her that if Dad wanted the best chowder then he needed to go to Moran’s on the Weir.

We walked in and there was Mary & Tom, grandad’s friends. We all sat together. Dad ordered the chowder, mum the mussels. No one ordered starter and mains apart from Granny. Who said, and I kid you not ‘sure I don’t know why I’m looking at this menu, I’m not hungry I just had a big breakfast but I’ll have the vegetable soup and the fish & chips’ Mum and me laughed our heads off. It was a lovely afternoon. The chowder was given an OK. Not enough fish he said!!
At Gort, Mum and me jumped out to have a picture taken with the sign, it was pouring. Declan, mum’s friend comes from there, so we said we would put it on FB to say we’d been (we never did put it up).
We were off to Craggy Island and oh my God the rain was so bad but the roads were worse. Google maps have been fantastic at directing us, but sometimes you had to second guess it with the way it took us to places.

We finally got there and you just couldn’t get out. Mum had bought me a t-shirt from Hairy Babies, it was a picture of Fr Ted’s head so with boots on and my big yellow coat we jumped out and took some very quick pictures.

Then Granny & Grandad turned up and they had their pictures taken. It was so funny!! We had such a laugh.

Next stop Doolin. The sky was clearing and when we finally made it to our destination we hooked up (getting the lingo now) and mum made us all a pasta dish. Grandad couldn’t get over it. Doolin was lovely and the campsite was the best so far. The people were lovely. We had all we needed at our little home. Even thou the weather was bad it really didn’t take away from our day in Craggy Island.

Still with you Rosie. I figure if I read all of your blogs it will save me having to listen to your Dad for two weeks when he gets back to work 😂 Keep em coming.
